LOVE IS DIVINE

The essence of all religions is to love all. Yugabatar Ramakrishna advised that the ideal is to serve the distressed with love and affection. Let us hear Swami Vivekananda. He said, “Do you love your fellowmen? Where should you go to seek for God? Are not all the poor, the miserable, the weak, Gods? Why not worship them first? Why go to dig a well on the shores of the Ganges? Believe in the omnipotent power of love. Who cares for these tinsel puffs of name? Have you love? – You are omnipotent. Are you perfectly unselfish? …………. Any expansion is life, all contraction is death. All love is expansion, all selfishness is contraction. Love is therefore the only law of life. He who loves, lives; he who is selfish is dying. Therefore, love for love’s sake. Because, it is the only law of life.”

What Jesus Christ said is , “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest commandment.” And , “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Thus, as God loves us all He wants that we should love one another as well. The idea that everything in the Universe exists within one universal spirit is taught very clearly and in great details in Upanishads. And as such to love the creation is to love God.
