Indian Hockey creates “blunder” record

Indian Hockey creates “blunder” record

Let me tell you first that Hockey is our national sport and not cricket but the outlook, attitude and results are almost different. Our Men’s Indian Hockey team has created a record of different type that one could predict. They have been routed out from the forthcoming Olympics game that is supposed to be held in Beijing. It has broken record of 80 years as this is the first occasion in all these right decades that India has not been qualified for Olympics. Ironically it has happened when film like CHAK DE INDIA have fancied and glorified this undermine sports. India lost to Great Britain at a score of 2-0. The wining team Great Britain won gold medal in 1988, scored two early goals to seal India’s fate. This coveted competition was held in Chile which also featured the hosts, Austria, Russia and Mexico.

    Hello,

What is happening is not correct. However I would like to correct, that there is no partiality involved, as the cash awards are declared by the respective boards and not by the govt. The fact that the cricket board is able to give better rewards, shows that it is better managed and has good business sense.

The Hockey board has to learn a lot from the cricket board, in terms of better management, business promotion and promoting the skills at the grass root levels.

Inspite of bieng the national game cricket is considered more than hockey. Whae hockey team wins some sereis or cup they r given 50000Rs while the cricketers are given 15,00,000 rs for winning the series. The partiality can been seen here.

The virtue lies in the struggle, not the prize.
