Eating; the north karnataka style
I am basically from north karnataka. Gadag, which is my birth place & also my mom’s place is located in northern most of karnataka & one can see the rich north karnataka also called uttara kannada culture high in this place & places surrounding to Gadag. The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about culture & tradition of north karnataka is, the food. There are varieties of foods & nique cmpared to other parts of India. The food here has ts own identity.
Food items like, kadak roti(crisp roti), Engaayi palya(Whole brinjal minced with masala curry), Puran boli made from: Ground nut, black sesame seeds, coconut, dal & many other varieties of puran bolis. These are a couple of unique foods from hundreds of other varieties. And if you really want to experience all those foods in Bangalore, then Kamat Yatri Nivas’s Jolad Roti meals is really good. Kamat Yatri nivas is at Majestic in Bangalore.
Never ate a Karnataka dish anywhere , would like to have it once i find it anywhere.
