Education……………aims what?

What is today’s child learning at school or college? Is that a real education? What does one expect from education? A good character. But today we seldom find people with good character, morals, and ethics. Main fault lies in the type of education.
Education is not the amount of information that is put into one’s brain and runs riot there, undigested, all your life. We must have life-building, man-making, character-making assimilation of ideas. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you have more education than any man who has got by heart a whole library.
A real education aims at values of life which are more important for a healthy development of a human & also a good society. Value education is more required in today’s world. To my mind real education is to make a child to live for others always acting justly & kindly. He should grow into a good citizen with a great admiration for everything good in life. He should know how to preserve his ancient glories and treasure them as national pride. He should be taught to think before he acts, to be prudent & useful to the society. He should develop values of heart like courage , patriotism, sympathy, service mindedness, loyalty, cooperation & tolerance to make his country noble.
Educating a child is to bring an all-round development of a child’s personality. It means developing & fostering in the child a set of healthy habits which will equip him for an efficient & respectable life in society.
A strong nation is being built with well disciplined society performing its duty efficiently at all levels. At first it may cause us some pain or trouble us to learn & appreciate “Discipline” but after a time the order becomes the part of nature. Thus the order becomes habit. Hence we all shall strive hard to foster such a valuable education to our coming generation.
