Women-work in India

In developing country like India, unemployment is a factor one has to contend with. General unemployment in any economy is bound to tell on the employment of women, in both qualitative and quantitative terms. When employment is unable to keep pace with the rapid increase in the population of the working age group, there is a sudden fall in employment opportunities for both men and women. If this state of affairs continues for a long time, some employing organizations may prefer to replace employed women workers with unemployed men workers. When job scarcity leads to chronic unemployment at the national level, even low paid jobs that are held by women because they were previously shunned by men, will be eagerly accepted by the men, thus, throwing the women employees out of their jobs.
