Fraudulent Experience Certificates

Fraudulent Certificates

Technology has been a boon for many, but at the same times it has been grossly misused by some. I would not dwell into all aspects of the misuse as it would involve several volumes of written content. I would therefore restrict this article to one aspect, in which I have personally been affected.

Some of the current day software professionals are the prime culprits of the misuse of technology. They all live in ivory towers, thinking that they have no responsibility towards their existing employers and switch jobs, without giving proper notice and going through a proper exit procedure. As a result such people do not have the necessary relieving orders and experience certificates. But they are least bothered. They know for sure that they can generate a fake certificate as good as the original. Here is where the photocopying and DTP technology is being misused. They take a color photocopy of the offer letter which they would have received, masking the contents, thus generating a letterhead. With this blank photocopied letterhead, they generate the necessary experience certificates and relieving orders. The signature of-course is also scanned from the offer letter and the same placed in the fake certificates.

The companies in the past couple of years have realized this fraudulent practice being adopted by the professionals, and have started outsourcing the certificate verification process to firms exclusively performing this task. The verification agencies send the copies of the certificates to the concerned companies asking for a confirmation of issuance.

I have had the unfortunate experience of validating such certificates, received from verification agencies. Being in a position for issuing offer letters and experience certificates, I have had atleast 3 instances when software professionals have generated fake certificates and submitted to other companies.

My humble request to all such people is not to adopt such fraudulent practices and ensure that they go through a proper exit procedure from their existing companies, so that their career will not be in jeopardy.

Many fake doctors sitting in his clinic with such fake certificate are still present.

The virtue lies in the struggle, not the prize.

I have seen many successful candidates who put up fake certificates and working in big companies like TCS, Satyam, Infosys, HSBC, etc. Many are doing this because of lack of oppurtunities offered by these companies. So to get a start many are paying money to get some fake experience projects etc and joining into the companies. Some are caught and thrown out of the comapny and some are escaping but these practices are done because of less opputunities.

    With love Madhu….

Companies have realised, and have started to verify the credentials submitted by outsourcing the work to verification agencies. Now the verification is not only restricted to employment opportunities, but even by Loan disbursing companies.

Lack of opportunities, does not give one authority to fake certificates. By doing so a genuine person having all the necessary qualifications both in terms of education and experience is loosing out.

Boom in SAP has given birth to few consultancies, which are issuing fake experience certificates. They just rent a small room, put up few computers, and start selling experience certificates. If some verification comes, they verify the register, which contains the data of the fake certificate purchasers and gives confirmation. What happens in these cases?

No company takes SAP freshers, then how can a candidate get experience? They have to have purchase an experience certificate.

My friend was trying hard to get a job in .Net and no company was taking him because he is fresher. If someone offered a job, pay was ridiculous like 4k or 5k. He wasted nearly one-and-a-half years. The, he managed to get an experience certificates and now he gets 40k. When he was begging the people to pay a good amount for his talent, no one was listening to him. Hope these IT companies change their recruitment system and recognize the original talent.

I would request each one of you who comment to first read the blog understand and then comment.

First of all you should understand my blog. I am not talking of companies issuing false experience certificates. Iam talkng of situation where a certificate has never been issued by the company and yet these so called idiot unprofessional software professionals generate fake certificates forging letterheads and signature of the concerned authority to create a certificate.

I hope you understand the difference.
