Love, Business and Lust

Love: To give. To donate. To put beloved’s happiness above your own happiness. To link your happiness to your beloved’s happiness. If your beloved is happy, you are happy. You live for your beloved not for you.

Business: Give and take. To put beloved’s happiness at par with your happiness. To some extent, delink your happiness from beloved’s happiness. If you are making him happy, you expect your happiness in return. You live for your beloved and for yourself. It is usually 50:50 relationship.

Selfishness: To take. To put your happiness above beloved’s happiness. To completely delink your happiness from beloved’s happiness. If you are happy, that is the end of the story. You are not worried whether your beloved is happy or not. You live for yourself and not for your beloved.
