WHAT IS MY PACE ??
I am not sure at what pace one should run in a competition. Does he try to exhaust his entire energy all the race long or he should preserve some of his energy to celebrate his win?
This is the puzzling thing I am trying to solve the day long. Whenever I support to give full in the race, i recall the story of the tortoise and the deer which you might have gone through. If not just have a look at it.
A deer and a tortoise started a race from a particular point to another. The race began. The deer run fast with his typical speed and after covering more than half of the distance looked back. He could not see the tortoise to his horizon. Then he thought that he can take rest for a while till the tortoise comes into his sight. And then he sat beside a tree to take rest. As he was running faster, he fall asleep while resting under the tree. The tortoise was running slowly and reach the end point of the race before the deer could. The morale of the story is – slow and steady wins the race.
Now if I ask, speedy and steady why can’t win a race. Recently I had seen a hindi movie” The Life In a Metro” and I liked a dialact of that movie. One of the actor was questioned, ” don’t you think you are too fast in your way to success?”. Than the actor replied, Sir, I have been here for race, not for morning walk.
When I combine both the sayings, I get confused. What to do? Shall I go slow or shall I run fast?
IS THERE ANY ONE WITH A SOLID AND REASONABLE ANSWER?
The methodology that needs to be adopted depends on the distance to be covered. If it is a short distance like 100M or 200M, the surge should be immediate and all the energy should be put in right from the start. THe reason is that the sustenance period is not long and within the capacity. Where as in a long distance like the marathon, energy should be conserved for the last stretch.
