BHOGALI BIHUR ULAG JASILU(happy BHOGALI BIHU)
Most of the Indians are not aware with the term Bhogali Bihu. May be they are aware of the Makar Sankranti’s. Bhogali Bihu is celebrated on the last date of the month Posh, which we the Assamese people pronounce as POOH’.
Bhogali Bihu is also known as Magh Bihu. The meaning of Bhog is to eat in abundance. This festive celebration is known for eating. The women use their DHEKI to grind out Chira, Sandah, Pithaguri, etc. to make Pitha and Laru(laddoo) out of the grind rice, teel, coconut, etc. They feel pride making as much of native items as they can. The day prior to Bihu is URUKA.
