Did conversion help?

Many Hindus in India have left their born faith and converted to other faiths. This was prompted by their desire to seek a living which was denied to them because they belonged to lower castes, dalits. They were assured of an improvement in the quality of their life by the people of other faiths. They were also assured equality in the new faith. But all this has not come true. These people are now agitating for reservation claiming that they are still dalits. See the agitation launched by converted Christians and Buddhists.

Violence on religion

I am a Hindu and I am proud to belong to a religion which does not ask its followers to work for converting people of other faith to Hindu faith. A person is born in a particular faith. I fully grant the person freedom of changing his or her faith if he or she is not satisfied in born faith. But that should be his or her free will. There should be no exploitation, no instigation or no threat by others. Aurangzeb killed sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji when they refused to convert to Islam.

Was it a coincidence?

It was 23rd January 2008, birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. I was waiting to board the train at Jharsuguda, Orissa. Suddenly it struck to me that the train, which runs between Pune and Howrah, has been named Azad Hind Express. I live in New Delhi. I never thought that on this day I will be in Orrisa and will tarvel by this train which bears the name of Netaji’s famous Azad Hind Fauj. Was it a coincidence or I was destined to celebrate Netaji’s birthday in this manner?

Bribe on trains

I was shocked but perhaps it was natural for the TTE. I boarded Azad Hind Express at Jharsuguda for Kolkata on 23 January 2008. My ticked in AC 2 Tier was confirmed. There were three other people. TTE came and checked my ticket. The three people gave their second class sleeper tickets for reserving birth in AC 2 tier. I could gather that they had been permitted by TTE to board the train.

Don’t politicians take bribe in England?

British High Commissioner Richard Stagg appreciated Lead India initiative and advocated that politicians should be paid more. As per his views professionals would consider coming into public life if they are compensated better. He asked that if there is no money in politics, why should a youngster join it?

Very interesting observation, but are not politicians professionals and are all politicians old? Politics is a very rewarding profession and there are many youngsters in politics.

Anupam Kher quipped, “But they will make money in politics, won’t they?”

Everybody is a peeping tom.

Whenever I travel I always want to sit by the window. I have been doing it since I took admission in Allahabad University in year 1962. I will travel by bus from my home town to district to take train for Allahabad. Today also I am doing it. If courtesy computer I do not get window seat in train then I curse the technology. Throughout the travel I will look outside the window with temporary interruptions to show ticket to TTE or to eat breakfast or lunch or dinner or any other thing. When I was a child I used to do it with unusual interest.

For those who think they know every thing

There are people who claim that they know everything. I have met many such people in my life. Some of them even go ahead and declare that others do not know anything. I have received a set of questions from Will and Guy in my e-mail which can be used as test by such people. This is a good test. So many of the questions are tantalizing. People who do not think so about themselves can also take this test.

Friends, you should be able to get at least three, but you have to be a genius to get 10/12. Question (2) is especially tricky.

Congratulations Murli

I am very happy that eblogs Team has appointed Mr. Murli (user Id – Service_To_All ) as a Moderator. Good work is always recognized. He has been doing a great job for keeping eblogs clean of duplicate contents. Now as a Moderator, he will do his work in a more effective manner. Good for eblogs. Also good for genuine bloggers.

eblogs Team also deserves appreciation. On many sites such efforts by bloggers are not seen in a positive manner. Bloggers like Mr. Murli are seen as inconvenient bloggers. eblogs has a positive attitude on this. This is a very satisfactory situation.
