Pranayama

Pranayama is training in proper breathing. It can lead us into Meditation to heal our mind, body and spirit. Pranayama is made of ‘Prana’ and ‘Ayama’. Prana means vital force of energy. And Ayama is the storing and distribution – regulation of energy. There is an intimate connection between body and mind. Breathing is a vital tool to control the mind and thinking pattern.

Taxman coming

The budget session is round the corner. India’s taxman P. Chidambaram must be very busy these days. On this occasion I remember a poem which I wish to share with all friends here.

I am the taxman, I am the taxman
Beware of me, I am the taxman

If you drive a car, I will tax the street
If you try to sit, I will tax the seat
If you get too cold, I will tax the heat

God sends a message

Friends I wish to share with you something which I read on internet. I do not know who actually wrote it, but we can certainly enjoy it.

An atheist professor was teaching a college class and he told the class that he was going to prove that there was not a God.

He said, “God if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I’ll give you 15 minutes!”

Feelings of a common passenger

Lalu Prasad felt bad about food served to him during train travel. ‘Feeling bad’ is a soft term. He became very angry. As he is Railway Minister, his anger resulted in suspension of few railway employees. He also took some decisions on the spot. Only branded food will be served now. Media also reported it.

The inhuman insurer

It is not that I was unaware of it, but when I read about it today, I felt sad. It disturbed me too much. It was also not the first time when courts have made such observations. This time the difference was that the court has included insurance companies also in its observations.

Merchants of hate

Politicians in India only know how to divide. They have turned every human aspect in to negative tool which they use to divide. Whether it is religion, language, caste, origin, urban, rural, rich, poor, the politicians have used all of them to create hate amongst people.

What is Dharma?

Dharma is a Sanskrit word translated literally as “innate characteristic”. There is no word in any language which expresses Dharma in its totality. Word ‘Religion’ used by people is also not a total equivalent. Now what is the innate characteristic of a human being?

Praying for self and others

When you pray, do you include others also in your prayers? Some prayers used by Hindus:

“Thou are the mother and the father,
Thou are the brother and the friend,
Thou are the knowledge and the wealth,
Thou are the lord of all”

“O almighty God,
Do good to all,
Be generous to all,
Be kind to all,
Do bless all in any way and every way”
